Thankful Thursday Thoughts: Rest as Part of Your Transition August 22, 2024

As I sit here, close to the end of a week-long break from broadcasting, I am so GR8TFUL I took the time to rest a little this week before the next seasons of 2024. I took this break to use the hours I would have spent broadcasting and recording to work on podcast launch items before Ginger and I launch our podcast, "Habits of Hope", later in September. I honestly have never regretted resting. I have had to do a lot more of it in this long season of grief that I am still in and it has served me well. I have learned to listen to God and my body as I heal and learn to integrate my grief into my new life without Bill.

One thing about resting is that it's a great way to transition. I have been mindful of transitions since my first ever Life Coach, Julie Muller, brought it up during one of our early sessions. I learned that planning for a successful transition from vacation, for example, back into my normal, daily routine was so helpful. I have applied those ideas to every transition I have walked through since then. Resting has been an integral part of my transition routine. Resting comes in many forms and doesn't have to be sleeping or napping though both of those things are a BIG part of my transitions. This week resting looks a little different though I am sleeping in longer and trying to take a longer break in the middle of the day than I usually do during a normal work week. Resting this week is putting a few things aside, like creating my normal content and recording, to work on new content and not having to get up as early every day. I also chose to say no to a couple of my favorite things to make room for the new things upcoming month. Resting is also trusting God that I can let some things go, whether permanently or temporarily, to make room for new things. This sort of rest is so great for my mind and my spirit.

So today I am GR8TFUL for rest and the God of the universe who I can rest in. I am GR8TFUL to get to do ministry with Ginger and that we are launching our podcast soon. I am also GR8TFUL for my first life coach, Julie, who taught me this technique along with so many other ways to improve my daily life. And, I am so GR8TFUL for this time, and the energy that rest afforded me, to get so many things done and in place. This sets me up well for this next season of launching a podcast and all that fall will bring.

What are you GR8TFUL for today, this week or in this transition?
